Which sunbed
Not all sunbeds are the same.
We use megaSun – the most advanced sunbed technology available. Cooling systems, hybrid lighting, and precision UV control are built into every bed. As a first-timer, you don't need to know the technical details – that's our job. We'll walk you through the options, match you to the right bed for your skin type, and set everything up before you go in.

Responsible tanning
What responsible tanning means here.
We don't cut corners. Your first visit starts with a consultation, and your sunbed time is set to suit your skin. We follow UK responsible tanning guidance, and we are a member of The Sunbed Association. If a session isn't right for your skin, we'll always tell you.

Can you burn on a sunbed?
Yes, you can – if your session time isn't set correctly for your skin type. That's exactly why we assess every first-timer before they go in. Starting too long, too soon is the most common mistake people make at other studios. We make sure it doesn't happen here.
Do sunbeds work the first time?
For most skin types, you'll notice a subtle colour change after your first session. Skin types 2 should expect a gradual build across several sessions. Olive and darker skin types (3–5) typically see results sooner. Consistency is what builds a real, even result – one session gives you a start, not a tan.
How long is a first sunbed session?
It depends entirely on your skin type and which bed you're using. First sessions typically range from 3 to 8 minutes. We set this for you – you don't need to guess or decide.
Do I need to wear goggles?
Always. Closing your eyes is not enough protection – UV passes through eyelids. No goggles, no session.
Can I use a sunbed if I'm very pale?
If you're a Fitzpatrick Type 1, sunbed use isn't suitable for your skin – we'll tell you this at assessment and won't put you in a bay. We'll always be honest with you.
What do I wear on the sunbed?
Whatever you're comfortable with. Your bay is private and locked. Always wear goggles. And cover any areas you don't want tanned.
Can I use a sunbed with tattoos?
Yes, but UV can gradually fade tattoo ink over time. We recommend protecting tattoos during sessions, and we stock a specialist tattoo-protection cream at The Tan Station salon that's designed specifically for this. Pick one up at the desk before you go in.
How often can I go on a sunbed?
UK guidance sets a minimum of 24 hours between sessions. For first-timers, we recommend 48 hours. We follow this without exception. This allows your skin to fully process each session before the next – skipping that gap doesn't speed things up, it just increases risk.
